The first step to the expansion project began in June 2004 with an
upgraded electrical infrastructure and the construction of a newly
designed parking lot to improve traffic flow, ensure student safety, and
increase the number of parking spaces.
During the summer of 2005, construction will begin on a beautiful
expanded campus for Hamilton School. We will update this page regularly
as more information about the school expansion becomes available.
Hamilton School has formed an Expansion Committee to help keep the
school community informed on the details and timing of the project. The
committee includes Ruthanne Bexton (principal), Liz Feingold (SIP
Coordinator), Patti Ravetti (Office Manager), Stephanie Bulich, Stacey
Beltran, and Tanya Madsen (Teacher Representatives), and Diane McKone
(Parent Representative). This committee will meet periodically with NUSD
representatives and the project architects.
SCHOOL MODERNIZATION is funded by the Measure A Bond Funds.
Modernization includes adding an additional classroom to each wing, new
flooring, new windows/blinds, built-in internet ready computer stations,
learning wall, storage cabinets, and interior painting.
Summer 2005
-
The entire exterior
of the school was painted a light gray with dark green trim.
-
The 2nd and 3rd
Grade wings were completely modernized. Each wing gained 1 additional
classroom and 1 classroom was enlarged. There are now 6 classrooms and 2
small common areas in each wing.
Summer 2006
- Two additional buildings/wings, the Kindergarten and 1st grade
wings, were completely modernized. The 1st grade wing gained one
additional classroom used as a Kindergarten classroom.
Summer 2007
- Meadow Park will be completely modernized.
SCHOOL EXPANSION is funded in part by the New Hamilton developer
fees and will include the addition of a new school office, library,
multi-purpose room, playing field, and breezeway connecting the two
campuses. The timing of the expansion may coincide with the school
modernization plan, but will most likely not be completed until some
time after 2007.
LEARNING WALL
Custom classroom cabinets designed with double sliding white boards and
ample storage space for classroom items and audio/visual equipment. (The
sliding white boards will cover all the shelving in the upper half of
the wall.)
